Military Monday: Jamie- Pensacola, Florida

Every Monday, I am going to write a post highlighting a military spouse.  I envision that this feature will help spread positive information about specific places that we are currently stationed and might potentially get stationed.  I want to highlight information about each of these duty station locations.  I am hoping that this can assist us in collecting information about duty stations around the country (and world!) before we get there.  It is my intention for this to be a resource for military spouses to connect with each other and learn a bit about where they are going next.  This is the first post of this feature so I will start with myself!

How long have you been there?:
I have been visiting my husband here in Pensacola for 6 months and have lived here full-time for 1 month.

Favorite restaurant in the area:
Tacky Jacks in Gulfshore, Alabama.  It is a short drive (20 or 30 minutes) from Pensacola.  The food was decent and the service was good but it is the location that makes it special.  It is right on the water.  Boats come up to the dock to grab lunch.  The view is gorgeous.

3 favorite things to do in your current city:
    1. Drive to other destinations.  We couldn't do this in Hawaii so this feels like a real treat!  We have done weekend get-aways in Destin, Florida, Biloxi, Mississippi, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama.
        2. Hang out at the pool.  The weather is wonderful in Florida.  It is hot and sunny.  Perfect pool weather. 
    3. Go to Cordova Mall.  It is the local mall.  Most of the good restaurants, Target, Toys r Us, etc are all in the same area as the mall.

Favorite duty station so far: 
Honolulu.  We were stationed there for 3.5 years.  We spent most of our married life there and started our family there. I really enjoyed most things about living in Hawaii.  The best part to me was that it was so easy to get into an outdoor adventure like hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, exploring the different communities around the island.

Who is your hero?:
My Mom.  No question. The smartest, most rational, kind, dedicated woman I have ever known.
