Letters to the universe

11.02.2012

It's Friday, it's Friday, it's Friday all day long. It's Friday, it's Friday today! -song brought to you by my 8th grade honors science teacher.

Dear Friday: thanks for showing up so quickly this week. The whole Saturday through Wednesday weekend thing works for me.

Dear people who are still dealing with the wrath of Frankenstorm Sandy: sending positive thoughts your way. I hope you get all of the help you need to put your lives back together.

Dear NYC marathon: Really?! How about instead of running in silly competition, you all hop on he subway and assist in the cleanup and re-building? Your friends need help.

Dear cancer: Fuck off. Please leave my family and friends alone. We have had enough for this life time.

Dear Baby Boy: Please stop being such a lazy baby. Move around more so I feel less anxious. I'm nervous every minute that you might not make it. Please, for my mental stability, please start wiggling.

Dear Eva: You are my heart, my soul, my reason for living. If I had to dream up a more perfect baby for me, it would be impossible. You are more than I could have ever wanted.

Dear Carissa: Yay for blates. See you soon!

  2. I disagree with your NYC marathon one. The marathon is a HUGE source of tourism income for NY. To cancel it would be to divert money that is badly needed in community that just took a huge hit. Plus, I'm sure (since most races tend to be charitable by nature) that there's going to be opportunities for participants and spectators to donate to the cause. Also, during this time of devastation, I think it'd be an uplifting sight to see everyone persisting through the damage, showing that there IS life after tragedy and that the city will move forward.

  8. This is freaking adorable! I am so sorry cancer is rearing its ugly head around you. that's no bueno!

i did hear they cancelled the NY marathon and The Hilton Garden Inn is letting families stay as long as they want!! Some marathon runners weren't too happy because they couldn't fulfill their reservation. I was pissed when I read that. There are people in need and you don't NEED to run a marathon!

  9. I am so glad they canceled the marathon!! I agree with a lot of Erin's points (uplifting, charitable, tourism, etc.), but it would take resources away from other areas that truly needed it. I think your idea of having all the runners clean the city instead ;)
