Stupid, stupid, stupid

When was the last time you made a big mistake? A mistake so big that it keeps you up at night? I made one of those this week.

I threw $1,200-1,600 cash in the trash.

Let that soak in for a moment....

I have a little side job. I don't make much money but it is some extra cash while I raise my baby. I worked all summer for this money. I was keeping it in a drawer in the kitchen because we were going to use it to buy a new stainless refrigerator. Well, I cleaned the house really well last week. I saw the money, put all of the little bank envelopes in one envelope and ...

It's gone. I went through all the trash, all the drawers, and everywhere else I would think I'd put it. It's just gone.

I could blame pregnancy brain. I could blame my husband. I could even try to blame Eva, but the truth is, it was probably just plain old me. I'm careless, I don't put things away when I should, sometimes I'm lazy... I make mistakes.

Now excuse me while I go pout about it.

  15. Many moons ago when I was a kid, my mom lost $100. We looked EVERYWHERE for it to no avail. A good 6 months later, I was helping her in the kitchen and was pulling a pan out of a lower cupboard, and what do I find? A crisp $100 bill. We have no clue where that bill ended up or how it finally ended up in that pan, but we finally found it. I hope you'll find it stuffed behind the microwave or under the fridge soon! :)

  33. Oh goodness, Jamie! I feel sick for you...so so sorry. I'm sure it's eating away at you but I'll try to put a positive spin on it...at least it wasn't something irreplaceable or sentimental. Still, though...ugh. Prayers to St. Anthony that it turns up!

  38. oh my gosh. i can't believe this. i'm so sorry to hear about this. jeez. like i am speechless. i wanted to slap myself in the face when i lost FIFTY DOLLARS in a Denny's (yea that place, it was like 10 years ago give me a break!) booth!! ohh, i sure hope you are wrong and it shows up.

  40. I HATE when I do something like that, but I tell myself it's to keep me humble. I tend to get a little high and mighty at times (did I just admit that?), but when something like that happens...it reminds me that I'm not perfect. I'm sorry that you lost the money, though. I'll cross my fingers that it turns up!
