I want chickens. I used to have chickens when we were growing up. My Mom was organic before it was tres chic. I would save little chickies from the horse stable where I kept my horse at and bring them home. We only ever had two or three chickens at a time but they were my buddies. Especially "One Eyed Red". She was my favorite one. I would carry her around on my shoulder and even brought her in my room.
Anyways, now that we have established that I was sort of a bizarre kid, I want chickens again. I want fresh, hormone/ antibiotic free eggs. Chickens are super easy to care for and if they get proper care, they will produce a healthy egg a day. I am sold.
Yesterday we did this...
We looked but did not buy. I need a chicken coop before I buy two cutie little chickies. It also happens to be illegal in my neighborhood to have chickens but details, schmetails. We have a privacy fence and a big yard, I
Eva was totally sold. They also had little baby ducks. I wish I had a lake so that it makes sense to buy a little duck.... I think the pregnancy hormones might be starting to make me go nutso. I hope this baby comes before my house turns into a farm....

I can't wait to have a house so I can have chickens!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, all animal products have hormones. You're looking for food items that have no added hormones.
ReplyDeleteMy sister has a few chickens and she LOVES them!! It's such a fun adventure to pursue (but you know that). I have ALWAYS wanted ducks, they are the cutest ever! I think my next house needs to have a pond for sure.
ReplyDeletechicks!! how CUTE!!!! omgosh you could make a cute pond and everything for the duck too in your backyard!!!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I keep trying to talk my husband into chickens because we do live on a farm... but he said absolutly NOT! Since I became pregnant I have been attempting to talk him into a puppy. I mean, we have 2 dogs already but they are hunting dogs, I want a puppy for play.
ReplyDeleteI want chickens too! My parents have them and the fresh eggs are incredible. One day!
ReplyDeleteYes that is so great!! Fresh healthy organic eggs!I bet Eva will have an awesome time chasing them around and caring for them =) I also tried to get some in my backyard but my HOA told me NO...We are hopeing to relocate to the Eastern Shore someday so I'll have to wait till then!
ReplyDeleteAww how fun!! Some free, healthy eggs + a super cute chicken? Sounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteWe want chickens too! Some day....
ReplyDeleteFunny you say this because my husband had talked about getting chickens. I said not until you build a cage/coop for them. We'll see :) I heard eggs straight from the chicken are better then going to the store and getting them. I bet they are.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be fun to have chickens, but I have bird dogs so I am not sure how that would work.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so funny that it's illegal in your neighborhood. I wonder what kind of chicken disaster happened that they made that rule! ;)
ReplyDeleteAva is so cute and I love this post! I'm also glad you posted your reasoning behind this and I 100% agree with you. There are so many people who say "Oh I want chickies because they're cute and it's Easter." Ummm, what?
ReplyDeleteI would love to have chickens, it would be amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteI know lots of people with chickens and they love it! BTW- I am now following you on Bloglovin too!
