Baby it's cold outside!

1.07.2014

I am sure you haven't heard this anywhere on social media or on the news, but it is cold as shiite on the East Coast today.
It is 10:00am and it "feels like" -14.  Not cool.  Mother Nature.  Not cool.

So, because I have babies and I am a stay at home Mom and I have thin California blood, we are stuck inside for the second day in a row.  Yesterday, I kept Eva busy all day with activities- writing, make-up, playing with Nate, tea parties, baths (2), cleaning, "school", etc.

Today, she is watching Disney Junior.  I don't usually allow her to watch television during the week.  I just don't believe that she needs to watch television.  But on day two of being locked indoors by ourselves, the TV is on.  There are only so many hours of incessant questions and constant need for affirmation that this Momma can take.

It is amazing how important getting out of the house is for my mental health and patience level.  When we're not being locked indoors by negative temperatures, we usually leave the house for a couple hours a day to go to the store, go to a play date, visit the gym, or walk around the mall.  It gives the day structure and we all benefit from the break from being in each other's face.
{Right now... yes I am wearing a scarf indoors.  It's cold!}
But, as we hide inside from the frigid arctic air, I am letting go just a bit and allowing the boob tube to entertain my child.  I am even going to pretend like I don't feel guilty about it.

Are you freezing today?

  3. Too cold for me. Reminds me of those Alaskan winters. Luckily it's not too bad here. It's been about the 40s lately.

  4. It is way to cold for me and I spend the weekend watching TV, it is full on hibernation mode. Sometimes the TV just has to go on to save your sanity.

  5. I hope the day passes quickly! It's supposed to be in the 70's in So Cal today. Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything ;)

  6. It's so cold and my baby has a cold. My husband and I already went through all the flu symptoms and are feeling better, but Noah now has a runny nose. So if the freezing temps weren't enough to keep me inside, I now have another reason. What's keeping me sane (besides the tv) is that we just booked a trip to Florida for the end of February to celebrate my 30th birthday! I hope planning for this getaway will get me through the miserable winter.

  7. It's freezing here too. All weekend we snuggled in and watched TV. I too felt bad that it was the majority of what we did, but it was just too darn cold!

  8. Wow! That is cold! We are at I believe high 30's low 40's right now and that's cold for Florida! I hate staying cooped up inside and don't feel guilty about the TV. Sometimes you have to keep your sanity. Hope you stay warm!

  12. Perfect day for cozying in front of the TV (I'm at work). Because yesterday was rainy and melted away the snow, today is all ice everywhere. Ugh!

  16. I regularly wear a scarf indoors! Yesterday the big outing was Wal-Mart. We were trapped Sunday, and didn't dare venture out yesterday morning.
    Today I went to the gym. I've also had a stomachache for 2 days, and I think it's due to cabin fever.

  20. I'm impressed she doesn't normally watch tv during the week -- I don't think my kids *need* to watch it either, I just can't get through the day without at least one 20 min. break that tv provides :) Stay warm!!!
